Teek-O played games of craps nightly. Amazingly he did quadruple his gold.

Session Report

This session was short and sweet. We started later than usual, and uncovered an extraordinary amount of loot so the party returned to town to bank the loot and train.

The starting goal was to return to the mountain pass to loot the cave and see if they could find a path to the Purple Monastery. Everything started out great; there were no encounters on the way to the cave. Once inside, this time the party followed the bloody path and entered into a larger, cave chamber that looked like it was a living quarters, no matter how ransacked it was. There were a handful of dead men wearing rusted armor. Bent and dented weaponry littered the floor. The blood was dried. There were a few bed rolls, crates, cupboards, barrels and other storage containers.

Bargis began to look for a secret door. The rest of the party looted the storage containers for simple gear and tools. Luckily, Bargis has the secondary skill of Carpentry so he was able to notice, after some examination, that one of the cupboards had a false back, and there was a small cave room behind it.

Inside were a few chests. But these chests were loaded.

What this ended up being was the hidden lair loot of a group of bandits. They seemed to have died protecting it, but the party did not know from what. They secured the room and took a few turns opening the chests and counting their loot. Every roll on the treasure tables were favorable and after determining who was carrying what, the party departed back to town.

The party was attacked by "shadows" on their way back out of the caves. The cool thing about shadows is they can drain the players strength attribute for a duration. This was last chance for the players to lose their newfound wealth but they survived the encounter. Side note, shadows exist primiarly on the "negative material plane" so it is interesting to ponder what they were doing here. Following the party? And if so, why? And also, who or what sent them?

Back in Chestertonshire, the party went to a state-sponsored exchange and exchanged their massive haul for cold hard coinage. The exchange has been run by patron Billiam Gatesworth for years now. His purposes is to send "merchant caravans" to-and-fro cities and towns that have an exchange connected to the Bank of Krozpont. (He has put a lot of local gem and jewelry identifiers out of business.) In exchange for the ability to convert gems to coinage easily, he requires the account owner to submit their name, and place of residence if they have one. This information is used to collect debts, etc.
